About ShopGun

ShopGun wants to make life simpler for people by removing the hassle of planning your shopping and much more. In fact, we're on a mission to make it possible to get any thing.

Your Coming Role

We're looking for an experienced and engaged DevOps Engineer to join our team of passionate engineers. You'll be working closely with our other DevOps Engineer to maintain and improve upon our infrastructure, and together you will have the freedom to shape the foundation of our product.

You'll also be in close interaction with our other engineers to ensure they have the tools needed to easily deploy and manage their projects. These are written in many different languages such as Erlang, Go, Python, Node and PHP, so there's plenty to dig in to.

If Amazon Web Services, Terraform, Docker and Kubernetes are technologies that tickle your brain, we have plenty of opportunities for you. If you have more ideas, it's even better - we appreciate working towards efficient and modern infrastructure, and sharing and making your opinion heard is key to achieving this.

At ShopGun, we value our experts. That's why we want you to not only give your best to improve the product but also yourself. We expect you to do your best to keep up to date on the technologies you use in your daily work and search out new avenues to take it to the next level.

It's important that you always have a focus on security and scalability, as we are in constant movement and need stable infrastructure to support this. Part of your job will also involve responding to incidents related to security and infrastructure to ensure low downtime - and learn from each incident in order to prevent similar problems in the future.

Your Current Qualifications

We expect that you're:

  • Passionate about DevOps principles and supporting talented developers
  • Excellent at using AWS and know its possibilities and limitations
  • Adept at using Terraform for building and managing infrastructure
  • Able to set up and maintain continuous delivery pipelines
  • Security oriented
  • An excellent problem solver
  • Comfortable working in Linux
  • Able to communicate clearly in English
  • Sharing our values (see below)

Though it's not required, we'd love that you're:

  • Able to help set up Docker containers
  • Experienced with orchestration tools such as Kubernetes, OpenStack or similar
  • Familiar with roles and permissions
  • Used to working with monitoring and logs
  • Experienced with RabbitMQ
  • Experienced with ElasticSearch
  • Used to working with Kafka

Our Core Values

We have a set of values that are central to everything we do at ShopGun. Because of that, we're looking for the person who can not only fill the role but also shares our values:

We put people first

We prioritize the well-being of people over anything else. We make the time that people spend with us well spent. We believe this leads to good fortune and that money will then be possible to make in a sustainable way to fuel our purpose.

We challenge how things are

We're never satisfied with the status quo. We consider things, big or small, and improve them by making decisions that support our purpose in the long run. We challenge people in respectful ways when trying to improve things.

We grow our impact

We seek to get the most impact out of what we do rather than growing the size of our organization. We do this by becoming smarter and faster to achieve more in the same time. We learn new things, learn from our mistakes, and optimize our time.

We contribute outside of our roles

We see all parts of our organization as something for us to contribute to, as best as we can. We share our thoughts and invite people to share their thoughts. We're selfless and let the better argument prevail.

We turn thoughts into action

We carefully consider things and then do what it takes to fulfil our roles so other people can count on us. We work self-reliantly and as part of our organization at the same time. We try our best and we're never afraid to fail.
